2 Samuel 19
David mourns for the loss of his son Absalom.
The people question why David is still not home from battle.
David returns to Jerusalem.
As soon as David crosses over the Jordan, Shimie asks for mercy.
Shimie was the one who cursed David before he fled the land from Absalom.
Shimie says how he sinned and asks for forgiveness.
David forgives him.
David calls Mephibosheth and they finally meet.
Barzillai provided for David when he fled, so David wants to bring him back across the Jordan to stay with him so he can repay the man.
Barzillai is old and requests to return to his land to die.
David blesses him and he returns home.
Judah and Israel fight over David.
Judah says they should have more right to David because he is from their tribe.
2 Samuel 20
Sheba, a Benjamite, speaks to the people and says how they have no share in David and they they all should leave.
All of Israel abandons David except Judah.
David prepares men to fight.
David says Sheba can do more harm than Absalom did.
They begin to fight and are attacking a city wall when a women asks to speak to Joab.
She asks to be saved if she gives Joab the head of Sheba.
Joab agrees and she kills Sheba and proves it with his head.
2 Samuel 21
There was a famine for 3 years.
David asks the Lord why.
The Lord tells David it is because Saul harmed the Gibeonites when they were promised protection.
David makes things right to the Gibeonites.
The Gibeonites are given 7 men from the house of Saul and hang them.
Israel is at war with the Philistines once again.
David grew faint and almost dies.
Abishai kills the son of a giant saving David’s life.
The men of David swore to him that he should not go to battle with them anymore.
Four who were born to the giant from Gath were killed.
