1 Kings 1-2

1 Kings 1
David was old and could not get warm from any blankets.
His servants bring him a beautiful virgin, Abishag, to care for him.
Adonijah presumes that he will be king because of his fathers sickness and others follow and expect this to be so.
Nathan and Bathsheba inform David of this.
David pronounces Solomon as king, sending him to Gihon, on his donkey with Nathan and other leaders to be annointed.
Adonijah was told of this and everyone with him left.
Adonijah was afraid of Solomon, but King Solomon said he would not die unless there is evil in him.

1 Kings 2
David gives Solomon instructions.
David asks Solomon to follow the Lord in all that he does.
David reminds him of what Joab has done, shedding blood in a time of peace. Solomon is to not let him die in peace.
David tells Solomon to remember Barzillai, the man who helped him when fleeing from Absalom.
David says he told Shimei he will not kill him by the sword.
David also says for Shimei is not to be held guiltless though.
David dies and is buried in the City of David.
David ruled for 40 years.
Solomon took the throne and was well established.
Adonijah asksa Bathsheba to ask King Solomon if he may have Abishag.
Bathsheda asks and Solomon has Adonijah killed.
Solomon banishes Abiathar because he was deserving of death.
Solomon will not kill him because he had carried the Ark before David.
Joab also flees with Abiathar.
Solomon sends Benaiah to kill Joab.
Benaiah does so and take over as commander of the army.
Zadok takes the place of Abiathar.
Solomon tells Shimei to build a house in jerusalem and to not leave lest he be killed.
One day 2 of Shimei’s slaves run away.
He goes and retrieves them.
Solomon hears of this and had Benaiah kill him.
