2 Samuel 16
Shimei, from the house of Saul, curses David.
Ahithophel gives advice on how Absalom should attack David.

2 Samuel 17
Hushai gives different advice to Absalom.
Absalom chooses Hushai’s advice.
Hushai then warns David and tells him to escape.
Ahithophel hangs himself after he hears that his advice was not taken.

2 Samuel 18
David and Absalom prepare for battle.
During the battle, Absalom is riding his donkey and gets stuck in a tree.
Joab goes and speared Absalom with three spears and has his armorbearers kill Absalom.
David finds out that Absalom is dead and begins to mourn.
David wishes he had died instead of his son.
