1 Kings 21
Ahab wants a vineyard that is next to his palace for a garden.
The vineyard is Naboth’s and he refuses to give or sell it to Ahab because the Lord told him not to give him the inheritance of his fathers.
Ahab is saddened by this.
Jazebel, Ahab’s wife, hears about this and sents letters in Ahab’s name to kill Naboth.
Ahab is told Naboth is dead and takes his vineyard.
The Lord condemns Ahab through Elijah.
The Lord is going to destroy the house of Ahab.
Ahab tears his clothes when he hears this and the Lord acknowledges how he is humble and decides to not bring the calamity of his house in his days but the days of his son.
1 Kings 22
Syria and Israel do not go to war for 3 years.
Ahab and Jehoshaphat ask 400 prophets to ask the Lord if they should attack Syria to regain a city.
The prophets say the Lord will deliver them to victory.
Ahab asks another prophet, Micaiah, and he says that disaster will be upon Ahab.
Ahab does not believe Micaiah.
Ahab goes into battle and gets wounded and dies.
Ahaziah, his son, now rules.
Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah for 25 years.
He followed the Lord just like his father, Asa.
Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
Jehoram, his son, reigned after him.
Ahaziah did evil in the sight of the Lord just like his father and mother.
He worshiped and served Baal, provoking the anger of the Lord.
