1 Samuel 28-31

1 Samuel 28
The Philistines plan to go to war with Israel.
David wants to join the fight.
Saul seeks a medium when he hears the Philistines are coming and the Lord will not answer him.
Saul calls upon Samuel to ask for help.
Samuel tells Saul that he and Israel will be delivered into the hands of the Philistines.

1 Samuel 29
The Philistines and David go to meet Israel.
The Philistines lords do not want David to help them fight Israel lest he becomes their adversary.
David goes back to his city.

1 Samuel 30
While David was away, the Amalekites attack Ziglag, taking everything including women and children.
David's two wives were taken.
David asks the Lord if he should pursue the Amalekites.
The Lord tells him to and he will not fail to recover all.
David finds a dying man. He nurses him and he tells David where the Amalekites are.
David destroys the Amalekite except 400 men who fled on camels, recovery all that was taken, including his wives.

1 Samuel 31
The Philistines killed Saul's three sons, Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchuisha.
Saul kills himself because he did not want the Philistines to do it.
