2 King 23-25

2 King 23
Josiah restore true worship.
Josiah goes around town tearing down idols, destroying carved images, removing pillars and sacred place, executing evil priests, and restoring the Temple of the Lord.
There was no king before or after like Josiah that gave all his heart to the Lord
The Lord however did not forget all the things previous kings had done so he will remove Judah from his sight just like Israel.
Josiah is killed in battle by Pharaoh.
The people made Jehoahaz king in his place.
Jehoahaz did evil and Pharaoh put him in jail and made Eliakim, Josiah’s son, king and changed his name to Jehoiakim.
Jehoiakim did evil and made tribute to Pharoah.

2 King 24
Judah begins to be removed from the sight of the Lord, just as He said.
Johoiakim becomes Nebuchadnezzar’s vassal and is attacked Syrians and Chaldeans.
Johoiakim dies and Jehoiachin rules, doing evil just like his father.
Jehoiachin and his house we captured by Babylon.
Jerusalem is captured and ransacked.
The king of Babylon made Mattaniah king of Judah and changed his name to Zedekiah.
Zedekiah did evil and rebelled against Babylon.

2 King 25
Nebuchadnezzar and his armies came against Jerusalem and attacked.
They killed many, destroyed the city walls, took treasure from everywhere, and many people back to Babylon.
Gedaliah is made governor over the people remaining in Judah.
Jehoiachin is released and given privileges from the king of Babylon, thus ending 2 Kings.
