1 Chronicles 1
The family from Adam, from Seth to Abraham, is listed.
The family of Ishmael, Keturah, Isaac, and Seir are listed.
The kings of Edom are listed.

1 Chronicles 2
The family of Israel is listed.
The family from Judah to David, Hexron, Jerahmeel, and Caleb are listed.

2 King 23-25

2 King 23
Josiah restore true worship.
Josiah goes around town tearing down idols, destroying carved images, removing pillars and sacred place, executing evil priests, and restoring the Temple of the Lord.
There was no king before or after like Josiah that gave all his heart to the Lord
The Lord however did not forget all the things previous kings had done so he will remove Judah from his sight just like Israel.
Josiah is killed in battle by Pharaoh.
The people made Jehoahaz king in his place.
Jehoahaz did evil and Pharaoh put him in jail and made Eliakim, Josiah’s son, king and changed his name to Jehoiakim.
Jehoiakim did evil and made tribute to Pharoah.

2 King 24
Judah begins to be removed from the sight of the Lord, just as He said.
Johoiakim becomes Nebuchadnezzar’s vassal and is attacked Syrians and Chaldeans.
Johoiakim dies and Jehoiachin rules, doing evil just like his father.
Jehoiachin and his house we captured by Babylon.
Jerusalem is captured and ransacked.
The king of Babylon made Mattaniah king of Judah and changed his name to Zedekiah.
Zedekiah did evil and rebelled against Babylon.

2 King 25
Nebuchadnezzar and his armies came against Jerusalem and attacked.
They killed many, destroyed the city walls, took treasure from everywhere, and many people back to Babylon.
Gedaliah is made governor over the people remaining in Judah.
Jehoiachin is released and given privileges from the king of Babylon, thus ending 2 Kings.

2 King 20-22

2 King 20
Hezekiah is sick and about to die and Isaiah confirms.
Hezekiah prays to the Lord to not die.
The Lord tells Isaiah to tell Hezekiah that He has heard his prayer and will extend his life 15 years and deliver them from Assyria for David’s sake.
Isaiah puts a bunch of figs on Hezekiah’s wound and he is healed.
The Lord gives Hezekiah a sign by moving a shadow backwards.
People from Babylon come to visit Hezekiah who shows them his treasures.
Isaiah warns how Babylon will take everything from Israel and bring it to Babylon.
Hezekiah dies and Manasseh rules.

2 King 21
Manasseh was 12 when he became king of Judah and did evil and rebuilt the high places which his father tore down, made wooden images and altars for Baal.
Manasseh even put an idol in the house of the Lord.
Manasseh made the people sin and do evil just like he did.
Manasseh dies and Amon ruled doing evil.
Amon is killed by his servants and his son Josiah rules.

2 King 22
Josiah was 8 when he became king and did right in the eyes of the Lord.
Josiah sends men to collect money to repair the temple of the Lord.
While doing so, they find the Book of the Law.
Josiah tears his clothes because this fathers and the people have not been following the Lord.
The Lord says that calamity will fall on Jerusalem and Israel.
The Lord also says that Josiah will not see this calamity because of his obedience.

2 Kings 18-19

2 Kings 18
Hezekiah rules in Judah doing right in the eyes of the Lord.
Hezekiah removed the high places and destroyed idols.
Hezekiah rebelled against Assyria and broke away.
Later, Sennacherib, king of Assyria came and defeated Judah.
Hezekiah says he will pay a tribute, whatever Assyria wants.
Sennacherib boasts against the Lord how He delivered Israel into his hands.

2 Kings 19
Hezekiah goes crazy about what Sennacherib says.
Isaiah confort Hezekiah saying that the Lord will cause Sennacherib to leave and will die in his land by the sword.
Sennacherib say how he is dominant and how Israel will not be delivered.
Hezekiah prays to God asking Him to deliver them to show that He is God alone.
The Lord tells Hezekiah that He had heard him.
The Lord warns Sennacherib and says he will leave and will not enter Jerusalem because He will protect the city for David’s sake.
An Angel of the Lord killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers.
Sennacherib saw this and returned to his land.
Sennacherib is killed by two of his sons, who escape to Ararat.
Esarhaddon now reigns.

2 Kings 15-17

2 Kings 15
Azariah becomes king of Judah at 16, rules for 52 years, and did right in the eyes of the Lord, except the high places remained.
The Lord gave Azariah leprosy and was isolated.
Jotham, his son, ruled in his place.
Zechariah did evil in the sight of the Lord and was killed by Shallum, who became king.
Shallum is killed by Menahem, who now rules.
Menahem ripped open women with child doing evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Menahem paid the king of Syria not to attack.
Meneham dies and Pekahiah, his son, rules and did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Pekahiah is killed by Pekah.
Pekah reigns in Israel for 20 years doing evil.
Hoshea kills Pekah.
Jotham, son of Uzziah, is king of Judah doing right but not taking down the high places.
Jotham died and Ahaz, his son reigns,

2 Kings 16
Ahaz rules in Judah doing evil.
Ahaz sacrifices in the high places.
Ahaz gives the treasures from the house of the Lord to the king of Assyria to protect him from the king of Syria.

2 Kings 17
Hoshea ruled and did evil.
Hoshea payed tribute to Assyria.
The king of Assyria imprisons Hoshea for not paying tribute.
Assyria takes most of Israel captive, leaving Judah.
Assyria populates Israel’s cities with foreigners.
God sends lions that kill some.
They ask Assyria to send them a priest from Israel to teach them how to worship the Lord.
They learn to worship the Lord and do so.
The foreigners fear the Lord but also set of their own gods to worship.

2 Kings 12-14

2 Kings 12
Johoash becomes king and repair damage to the Temple of the Lord.
Johoash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, although he did not take down the high places.
Hazael conquers Gath and threatens to take Jerusalem so the leaders send Hazael the treasures that were in the house of the Lord.
Hazael turns away.
The rest of the acts if Joash, also called Johoash, are in Chronicles.
Joash is conspired against and killed by his servants.
Amaziah, his son, rules.

2 Kings 13
Jehoahaz becomes king of Israel, reigns 17 years, and did evil in the eyes of the Lord.\
The Lord delivers Israel into the hand of Hazael because they arouse his anger.
Jehoahaz pray to God and he listens and sends a deliverer.
Jehoahaz dies and Joash reigns.
Johoash reigns in Israel and does evil in the eyes of the Lord.
[These names are so confusing, plus the fact that Judah and Israel are separate and new kings are ruling so often.]
Joash dies and Jeroboam reigns over Israel.
Elisha is dying and tells Joash that he is to destroy Syria.
Elisha dies and is buried.
Someone is being buried and he is put in Elisha's tomb because they saw raiders.
When the body hit Elisha's bones, the man stood up and was revived.
Hazael oppreses Israel for many years.
The Lord has mercy on Israel for Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob's sake.
Hazael dies and Ben-Hadad rules.
Joash defeats Ben-Hadad 3 times reclaiming cities that were taken.

2 Kings 14
Amaziah rules over Judah and did right in the eyes of the Lord, but still did not take down the high places.
Amaziah kills the servants who killed his father, but did not kill their children.
The Law of Moses says fathers should not be killed for their children nor vice versa.
Each person shall be put to death for their own sins.
Amaziah kills 10,000 Edomites and challenges the king of Israel to fight.
Jehoahaz warns Amaziah not to fight him but does not listen.
Israel defeats Judah capturing Amaziah.
Amaziah is killed and Azariah, his son rules.
Jeroboam [II] rules and did evil in the sight of the Lord.
Jeroboam [II] dies and Zezhariah, his son, rules over Israel.

2 Kings 9-11

2 Kings 9
Elisha anoints Jehu king of Israel.
Jehu conspired against Joram, who is killed.
Ahaziah hears this and flees but Jehu has him followed and killed.
Jezebel pushed out a window and dies and is eaten by dogs.

2 Kings 10
Jehu had Ahab’s 70 sons killed by asking for their heads.
Jehu had Ahaziah’s 42 brother killed.
Jehu has the rest of the house of Ahab killed.
Jehu gathers all the Baal worshipers pretending to want to worship Baal, but kills them all, destroying Baal from Israel.
The Lord began to cut off parts of Israel and Hazael conquered them.
Jehu died and Jehoahaz, his son reigns.

2 Kings 11
Athaliah, Ahaziah’s mother, saw that her son was dead and tried to kill all the royal heirs.
Joash was hidden, for 6 years.
Joash came out of hiding and was crowned king at age 7.
Athaliah is killed.

2 Kings 6-8

2 Kings 6
An ax falls into water.
Elisha makes the ax head float.
The Syrians are at war with Israel.
Elisha is telling the king of Israel what the Syrians plan.
The Syrians find out and go to find Elisha.
The Lord blinds them for Elisha and he takes them to Samaria where Israel captures them.
The Syrians are sent away and they no longer came into Israel.
Syria attacks Samaria during a famine.

2 Kings 7
4 lepers decide to go to the Syrians because there is famine in the city they were kicked out of.
They come to the Syrians camp and discover an empty camp.
The Lord cause them to hear the noise of a great army so they fled.
The lepers pillage the tents then tell the king’s household.
The people take many spoils from the camp.

2 Kings 8
The King of Israel restores all that the woman whose son Elisha raised from the dead had.
Ben-Hadad, king of Syria, asks Elisha if he will recover from his sickness.
Ben-Hadad dies and Hazael takes over.
Jehoram, Jehoshaphat’s son, rules over Judah doing evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Jehoram dies and his son, Ahaziah rules, doing evil in the eyes of the Lord.

2 Kings 4-5

2 Kings 4
A widows oil is multiplied through Elisha and her sons are saved from slavery.
Elisha proclaims that an older woman will bear a child.
She does not believe but does have a son.
The son dies and she goes to Elisha.
Elisha comes back and raises him from the dead.
Bad stew is made and Elisha purifies the stew to be eaten.
Elisha feeds 100 men with 20 loaves a bread.

2 Kings 5
Elisha heals Naaman’s leprosy.
Elisha’s servant, Gehazi is greedy and asks Naaman for money and clothes as he is returning to his home.
Elisha asks Gehazi where he went and he lies.
Elisha says Gehazi and his descendants forever.
Gehazi leaves with leprosy.

2 Kings 1-3

2 Kings 1
Moab rebels against Israel after Ahab dies.
Ahazaih injures himself and send messengers to inquire to Baal-Zebub as to if he will recover from this injury.
On the way, Elijah intercepts them and says that he will not recover and will die.
The messengers report to Ahazaih and he sends a captain and 50 men to bring Elijah to the king.
The men address Elijah as a Man of God.
Elijah says that if he is a Man of God that fire will come down from heaven and consume the captain and 50 men.
Fire does come down and consume the men.
Ahazaih sends more men and they are consumes by fire.
The 3rd group is sent and Elijah goes with them.
Elijah tells Ahazaih he will die and he does.
The acts of Ahazaih are in the chronicles.

2 Kings 2
Elijah is going to be taken up in a whirlwind to heaven.
Elijah travels to several places and Elisha follows.
Elijah asks Elisha if there is anything he can give him before he goes to heaven.
Elisha asks for a double portion of his spirit upon him.
Elijah says if Elisha can see him going up into heaven then it shall be so.
Elijah parts the river and they walk across on dry land and the chariot of fire and horses of fire appears and Elijah goes up to heaven.
Elisha is able to see Elijah ascending.
Elisha now has the spirit of Elijah.
Elisha heals water and gets mocked by youth about being bald.
Elisha curses them and 2 bears kill 42 of them.

2 Kings 3
Jehoram, Ahab’s son, sinned before the Lord but not as severely as his father.
Moab does not pay tribute to Israel when Ahab dies.
Jehoram asks Jehoshaphat to fight Moab with him; he agrees to fight.
Israel and Judah defeat Moab.

1 Kings 21-22

1 Kings 21
Ahab wants a vineyard that is next to his palace for a garden.
The vineyard is Naboth’s and he refuses to give or sell it to Ahab because the Lord told him not to give him the inheritance of his fathers.
Ahab is saddened by this.
Jazebel, Ahab’s wife, hears about this and sents letters in Ahab’s name to kill Naboth.
Ahab is told Naboth is dead and takes his vineyard.
The Lord condemns Ahab through Elijah.
The Lord is going to destroy the house of Ahab.
Ahab tears his clothes when he hears this and the Lord acknowledges how he is humble and decides to not bring the calamity of his house in his days but the days of his son.

1 Kings 22
Syria and Israel do not go to war for 3 years.
Ahab and Jehoshaphat ask 400 prophets to ask the Lord if they should attack Syria to regain a city.
The prophets say the Lord will deliver them to victory.
Ahab asks another prophet, Micaiah, and he says that disaster will be upon Ahab.
Ahab does not believe Micaiah.
Ahab goes into battle and gets wounded and dies.
Ahaziah, his son, now rules.
Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah for 25 years.
He followed the Lord just like his father, Asa.
Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
Jehoram, his son, reigned after him.
Ahaziah did evil in the sight of the Lord just like his father and mother.
He worshiped and served Baal, provoking the anger of the Lord.

1 Kings 18-20

1 Kings 18
The Lord tells Elijah to present himself to Ahab and He will bring rain.
Ahab has all of Israel come to Mount Carmel.
Elijah challenges the prophets of Baal.
There are 2 identical altars with bulls on them.
Whichever is burned with fire, that is the real God.
The Baal prophets go first and fail.
Elijah has 12 waterpots dumped on his altar and fills the trench around it.
Elijah calls on the Lord and the Lord consumes the altar, bull, water, and stones.
Elijah gathers the prophets of Baal and executes them.
The drought ends.

1 Kings 19
Jezebel wants to kill Elijah for what he did to the prophets of Baal.
Elijah escapes and is fed by an angel.
The Lord tells Elijah to anoint Hazael as king of Syria, Jehu as king of Israel, and Elisha as prophet in his place.
Elisha becomes Elijah’s servant.

1 Kings 20
Ahab defeats the Syrians twice.
Ahab and Ben-Hadad, king of Syria, make a treaty.
The cities that were taken from Israel will be restored and Israel will be able to set of marketplaces in Damascus.

1 Kings 15-17


1 Kings 15
Abijam rules in Judah.
He did not follow the Lord and sinned just as his father did, unlike how David lived.
Asa rules in Judah and did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just like David.
There was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, all their lives.
Asa makes a treaty with Tabrimmon to ward off Baasha’s attacks and is successful in doing so.
Asa dies and Jehoshaphat, his son reigns in his place.
Nadab, Jeroboam’s son rules Isreal and did evil in the sight of the Lord.
Baasha kills Nadab and becomes king and kills all of the house of Jeroboam.
Baasha walked in sin and in turn lead Israel to do so.
1 Kings 16
Baasha dies and Elah, his son now reigns.
Zimri, Elah’s servant kills him and all of the house of Baasha.
Zimri destroyed Baasha’s house because the Lord told Jehu, a prophet.
Israel makes Omri king.
Zimri is conspired against and is attacked by Omri.
Zimri burns the king’s house down, killing himself.
Israel was divided between Omri and Tibni.
The people who followed Omri prevailed over Tibni.
Omri did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did worse than all who were before him.
Omri died and Ahab, his son, ruled.
Ahab did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Ahab built an altar for Baal.
1 Kings 17
Elijah proclaims there will be no rain for years, except at his word.
The Lord tells him to go to a brook so he can drink and ravens will bring him bread and meat morning and night.
Elijah asks a widow for bread first for she had very little and needed to fred her family.
If she gave him bread first, the oil and flour will not run out until the Lord sends rain.
Elijah revives the son of the widow, whose house he was staying at, by the power of the Lord.

1 Kings 12-14

1 Kings 12
Rehoboam is to be king.
He does not take the advice of his father’s counsel, instead taking the advice of his friends.
The people desert him; only Judah follows him.
Israel makes Jeroboam king.
Rehoboam prepares to attack Israel but the Lord tells him not to because all this is from Him.
Jeroboam makes 2 golden calves and the people worship and make sacrifices to them.

1 Kings 13
A man of God gave a sign that the altar would split and ashes would pour out.
Jeroboam tries to arrest him but his hand withers.
Jeroboam see that the sign came true and asked the man to pray to his God for his hand.
The Lord restores Jeroboam’s hand.
An old prophet goes to this man of God and asks for him to come back with him.
The man of God says the Lord told him not to go back the way he came or to eat and drink.
The old prophet lies and convinces him to come, but the Lord punishes the man of God because he did not follow the Lord’s command.
The man of God is killed by a lion on his way home.

1 Kings 14
Jeroboam’s son was sick so he sent his wife in disgues to Ahijah the prophet to find out what will happen.
The Lord tell Ahijah that she is coming and says that when she returns and steps into the city, her son will die.
The Lord will cut off the house of Jeroboam from Israel.
The Lord is going to strip Jeroboam of his kingdom for his sin.
The Lord is going to give Israel away. [Is this alluding to when they are captives in Babylon?]
The rest of Jeroboam’s acts are in the book of Chronicles.
Jeroboam dies and reigned over Israel for 22 years.
Rehoboam did evil in the sight of the Lord while ruling over Judah.
Rehoboam made idols and wooden images.
Shishak, king of Egypt, came and took all the treasure of the house of the Lord.
Jeroboam and Rehoboam fought all their lives.
The rest of Rehoboam’s acts are in Chronicles.
Rehoboam dies and his son, Abijam, rules in his place.

1 Kings 10-11

1 Kings 10
The Queen of Sheba hears about Solomon’s wisdom and comes to put it to the test.
Solomon answers all of Sheba’s questions.
Sheba says Solomon is wiser than what is said of him.
Solomon is extremely wealthy.
Solomon has so much gold that none of his cups are silver.
Almost everything Solomon has is covered in gold.

1 Kings 11
Solomon begins to turn from the Lord.
Solomon takes many wives and concubines and they begin to lead him astray.
They get him to build places of worship and other things for other gods.
The Lord tells Solomon he will take away his kingdom from him.
The Lord will wait to take away the kingdom from Solomon’s son.
The Lord will leave one tribe for Solomon’s son for David’s sake.
The Lord raises up adversaries to Solomon.
Hadad and Rezon are two such adversaries.
Jeraboam, Solomon’s servant, rebells.
Solomon tried to kill Jeraboam but he fled to Egypt.
Solomon reigned for 40 years over Israel.
Solomon dies.

1 Kings 8-9

1 Kings 8
The Ark is brought to the Temple.
Solomon gives a speech, prays, and blesses the people.
Solomon dedicates the Temple by sacrificing 22,000 bulls and 120,000 sheep to the Lord.

1 Kings 9
The Lord appears to Solomon telling him that if he and his sons follow the Lord, He will establish Solomon’s throne over Israel forever.
If not, he will destroy Israel.
Solomon give Hiram 20 cities.
Hiram is displeased with the cities.
Hiram gives Solomon 120 talents of gold.

1 Kings 6-7

1 Kings 6
480 years after the children of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, Solomon began construction of the Temple.
The temple saw built with stone finished in the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel was heard.
The Lord told Solomon that if he followed His judgements, statutes, and commandments, He will be with Israel and not forsake them.
Almost everything in the temple was overlaid with gold.
Solomon finishes the temple if 7 years.

1 Kings 7
Solomon build other buildings.
Solomon took 13 years to build his house.
Solomon built the House of the Forest, Hall of Pillars, and the Hall of Judgement.
Solomon brings Huram of Tyre to do his bronze work.
Huram built 2 pillars, 2 capitals to rest on top of the pillars, the Sea, 10 carts, 10 lavers, shovels, and bowls, all bronze for Solomon for the Temple of the Lord.
Solomon put all these things in the temple.

1 Kings 3-5

1 Kings 3
Solomon marries the daughter of Pharaoh.
The people are sacrificing on the high places because there is no temple built.
Solomon loved the Lord and followed the statutes of his father, except he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places. [Why is this a problem?]
The Lord comes to Solomon in a dream and offers him anything he wants.
Solomon asks for wisdom.
The Lord gives him wisdom and blesses him more abundantly with long life, riches, victory over enemies, etc.
Two harlots come to Solomon for a judgment about who is the mother of the baby.
Solomon shows his wisdom in deciding whose the living baby was.

1 Kings 4
King Solomon’s officials are named.
Solomon had 12 governors who provided food for his household one month of the year.
Israel is very prosperous under Solomon’s rule.
Their was peace in Israel with Solomon.
Solomon spoke 3,000 proverbs, 1,005 songs and spoke about fish, animals, birds, and trees.
Solomon was known for his wisdom worldwide.

1 Kings 5
Solomon sends a message to Hiram, king of Tyre saying how his father was not able to build a house for the Lord because of the wars.
Solomon wishes to build a house for the Lord and asks Hiram to cut him timber for the building.
Solomon paid Hiram well year by year.
Solomon created a labor force of 30,000 from Israel.

1 Kings 1-2

1 Kings 1
David was old and could not get warm from any blankets.
His servants bring him a beautiful virgin, Abishag, to care for him.
Adonijah presumes that he will be king because of his fathers sickness and others follow and expect this to be so.
Nathan and Bathsheba inform David of this.
David pronounces Solomon as king, sending him to Gihon, on his donkey with Nathan and other leaders to be annointed.
Adonijah was told of this and everyone with him left.
Adonijah was afraid of Solomon, but King Solomon said he would not die unless there is evil in him.

1 Kings 2
David gives Solomon instructions.
David asks Solomon to follow the Lord in all that he does.
David reminds him of what Joab has done, shedding blood in a time of peace. Solomon is to not let him die in peace.
David tells Solomon to remember Barzillai, the man who helped him when fleeing from Absalom.
David says he told Shimei he will not kill him by the sword.
David also says for Shimei is not to be held guiltless though.
David dies and is buried in the City of David.
David ruled for 40 years.
Solomon took the throne and was well established.
Adonijah asksa Bathsheba to ask King Solomon if he may have Abishag.
Bathsheda asks and Solomon has Adonijah killed.
Solomon banishes Abiathar because he was deserving of death.
Solomon will not kill him because he had carried the Ark before David.
Joab also flees with Abiathar.
Solomon sends Benaiah to kill Joab.
Benaiah does so and take over as commander of the army.
Zadok takes the place of Abiathar.
Solomon tells Shimei to build a house in jerusalem and to not leave lest he be killed.
One day 2 of Shimei’s slaves run away.
He goes and retrieves them.
Solomon hears of this and had Benaiah kill him.

2 Samuel 22-24

2 Samuel 22
David spoke to the Lord a song of praise and thankfulness.
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; The God of my strength, in whom I will trust…”

2 Samuel 23
David speaks his last words and lists his 37 might men.

2 Samuel 24
The Lord grew angry against Israel and moved David to number the people of Israel and Judah.
Joab is counting for 9 months and 20 days.
Israel had 800,000 valiant men and Judah had 500,000 men.
David’s heart condemns him for counting the people.
The Lord gives him three options to choose from; seven years of famine, fleeing 3 months from his enemies, or a plague in Israel for 3 days.
David says that he does not want to be delivered into the hands of man, but the Lord’s.
The Lord sends a plague on the land killing 70,000 men.
David says he has sinned and asks that the Lord’s hand be upon him and his family, not all of Israel.
David goes to Araunah’s threshing floor to erect an altar for the Lord by Gad’s instructions.
David come and Araunah offers the threshing floor for free.
David says he will not offer sacrifices to the Lord with what costs me nothing.
David purchases the floor and oxen for 50 shekels and offers burnt and peace offerings to the Lord.
The plague is withdrawn from Israel.

2 Samuel 19-21

2 Samuel 19
David mourns for the loss of his son Absalom.
The people question why David is still not home from battle.
David returns to Jerusalem.
As soon as David crosses over the Jordan, Shimie asks for mercy.
Shimie was the one who cursed David before he fled the land from Absalom.
Shimie says how he sinned and asks for forgiveness.
David forgives him.
David calls Mephibosheth and they finally meet.
Barzillai provided for David when he fled, so David wants to bring him back across the Jordan to stay with him so he can repay the man.
Barzillai is old and requests to return to his land to die.
David blesses him and he returns home.
Judah and Israel fight over David.
Judah says they should have more right to David because he is from their tribe.

2 Samuel 20
Sheba, a Benjamite, speaks to the people and says how they have no share in David and they they all should leave.
All of Israel abandons David except Judah.
David prepares men to fight.
David says Sheba can do more harm than Absalom did.
They begin to fight and are attacking a city wall when a women asks to speak to Joab.
She asks to be saved if she gives Joab the head of Sheba.
Joab agrees and she kills Sheba and proves it with his head.

2 Samuel 21
There was a famine for 3 years.
David asks the Lord why.
The Lord tells David it is because Saul harmed the Gibeonites when they were promised protection.
David makes things right to the Gibeonites.
The Gibeonites are given 7 men from the house of Saul and hang them.
Israel is at war with the Philistines once again.
David grew faint and almost dies.
Abishai kills the son of a giant saving David’s life.
The men of David swore to him that he should not go to battle with them anymore.
Four who were born to the giant from Gath were killed.

2 Samuel 16-18

2 Samuel 16
Shimei, from the house of Saul, curses David.
Ahithophel gives advice on how Absalom should attack David.

2 Samuel 17
Hushai gives different advice to Absalom.
Absalom chooses Hushai’s advice.
Hushai then warns David and tells him to escape.
Ahithophel hangs himself after he hears that his advice was not taken.

2 Samuel 18
David and Absalom prepare for battle.
During the battle, Absalom is riding his donkey and gets stuck in a tree.
Joab goes and speared Absalom with three spears and has his armorbearers kill Absalom.
David finds out that Absalom is dead and begins to mourn.
David wishes he had died instead of his son.

2 Samuel 13-15

2 Samuel 13
Amnon loves Tamar, Absalom's sister.
Amnon and Absalom are brothers and David is their father.
Tamar is not David's daughter.
Amnon forces Tamar to sleep with him.
After two years Absalom kills Amnon and flees to Geshur.

2 Samuel 14
Joab felt that David was concerned for Absalom so he devises a plan to convince David to send for Absalom.
David sends for Absalom but does not want to see his face.
Absalom has three sons and a daughter, named Tamar.
David calls for Absalom and David forgives him.

2 Samuel 15
Absalom took some chariots and horses and 50 for himself.
Absalom stole the heart of the people from David but telling them that he will help judge, not bothering David with such matters.
Absalom goes to Hebron and started a conspiracy that he ruled there.
David finds out and he and his servants flee across the Jordan.

2 Samuel 8-12

2 Samuel 8
David conquers more nations including, the Philistines, Moab, Hadadezer, Edom, and Syria.
David took spoils and servants from his victories.
Many gave David tribute after being conquered.
Toi heard about David's victories so he sent his son with gifts.
2 Samuel 9
David looks for a relative of Saul to bless for Jonathan's sake.
David finds Mephibosheth, Jonathan's son, and gives him all the land that Saul had and servants and makes him eat bread at his table.
Mephibosheth has 15 sons and 20 servants.
2 Samuel 10
David sent messangers to Ammon to show kindness to the new king because his father was kind to David.
The new king, Hanun, shaved the messangers and ashamed them.
Hanun gathered an army and planned to attack David.
David was victorious over them.
The Syrians also tried attacking David but he defeated them as well.
2 Samuel 11
David destroys the people of Ammon.
David saw Bathsheba and slept with her.
She became with child.
David tried to get her husband, Uriah to come home one day with her to make it seem like the child was his.
This did not work so David had him sent to the front lines to be killed.
When Bathsheba found out she mourned then became David's husband.
This displeased the Lord.
2 Samuel 12
Nathan comes to David and tells him a parable.
David does not like what happened in the story and proclaims punishment of death.
Nathan tells David that he is the one who deserves punishment for with he did with Uriah.
David confesses and the Lord put away his sin so he shall not die.
David's child will die for what he did.
David pleads for his child to live from the Lord, but the child dies.
David has a son, Solomon, whom the Lord loves.
Nathan calls him Jedidiah, which means Beloved of the Lord.
David and Joab defeat and capture Rabbah and take his city.

2 Samuel 4-7

2 Samuel 4
Ishbosheth is murdered.
David finds out who did it and kills them.

2 Samuel 5
All the tribes come together and anoint David as king of Israel.
David conquers Jerusalem.
David has more children in Jerusalem from taking more concubines; Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.
The Philistine came to fight Israel.
David asks the Lord if he should attack
The Lord tells David to attack and that He will deliver them into David's hands.

2 Samuel 6
David ordered the Ark to be brought to Jerusalem.
On the way, the Ark is about to fall off the cart so Uzzah puts his hand out to stop the Ark from falling and touches the Ark.
Go grew angry and struck Uzzah dead.
David was angry about this and had the Ark put in the house of Obed-Edom.
While their, the Ark blessed that house.
When David hears that, he commands it be brought the rest of the way to Jerusalem.
David is very thankful to the Lord.
He dances around praising and worshipping.
Michal, Saul's daughter, sees this and despises David.
She confronts David on how he acted when the Ark arrived.
Michal had no more children after this.

2 Samuel 7

God makes a covenant with David saying he will bless him and multiply him and His mercy shall not depart from him like that which happened to Saul.
David thanks the Lord for all that He has done for him and will do.

2 Samuel 1-3

2 Samuel 1
Saul and Jonathan's deaths are reported to David.
David kills the man who killed Saul. (But I thought Saul killed himself because his armorbearer would not? Why is David killing him then?)
David grieves for the death of Saul and his best friend Jonathan.
David gives "Song of the Bow" to remember them.

2 Samuel 2
David is made king of Judah.
Ishbosheth is made king of Israel by Abner, Saul's army commander.
Israel and Judah go to war and Judah wins.
Joab, Abishai, and Asahel, three brothers are pursuing Abner.
Abner kills Asahel and the two brothers turn back.

2 Samuel 3
David has six sons; Amnon, Chileab, Absalom, Adonijah, Shephatiah, and Ithream.
Abner is insulted by Ishbosheth so he leaves and joins David.
Joab kills Abner for killing his brother.
David and the people mourn Abner's death.

1 Samuel 28-31

1 Samuel 28
The Philistines plan to go to war with Israel.
David wants to join the fight.
Saul seeks a medium when he hears the Philistines are coming and the Lord will not answer him.
Saul calls upon Samuel to ask for help.
Samuel tells Saul that he and Israel will be delivered into the hands of the Philistines.

1 Samuel 29
The Philistines and David go to meet Israel.
The Philistines lords do not want David to help them fight Israel lest he becomes their adversary.
David goes back to his city.

1 Samuel 30
While David was away, the Amalekites attack Ziglag, taking everything including women and children.
David's two wives were taken.
David asks the Lord if he should pursue the Amalekites.
The Lord tells him to and he will not fail to recover all.
David finds a dying man. He nurses him and he tells David where the Amalekites are.
David destroys the Amalekite except 400 men who fled on camels, recovery all that was taken, including his wives.

1 Samuel 31
The Philistines killed Saul's three sons, Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchuisha.
Saul kills himself because he did not want the Philistines to do it.

1 Samuel 25-27

1 Samuel 25
"Then Samuel died." He was buried in Ramah, his home.
David sent men asking for provisions from Nabal, but refuses.
David prepares men to go and kill Nabal and his household.
Abigail, Nabel's wife, goes to meet David with many gifts without her husband knowing.
David accepts Abigail's gift and does not kill Nabal.
Abigail tells Nabal what happened.
After about ten days the Lord killed Nabal.
Abigail becomes David's wife.
David also took Ahinoam as his wife.
Saul gave Michal, David's wife, to Palti.

1 Samuel 26
David spares Saul's life again.

1 Samuel 27
David resides with the Philistines, which stops Saul from pursuing him.
David stays with the Philistines for 1 year and 4 months.
David asks for a city and is given Ziklag.

1 Samuel 21-24

1 Samuel 21
David goes to Nob and asks for bread and is given Holy Bread because there is no other and his men have not been with women for three days.
David asks for a weapon and the only one there is is Goliath's sword, which he takes.
David flees to Gath but realizes he is not safe, so pretends insanity and leaves.

1 Samuel 22
David goes to Adullam and 400 men gather to him and takes command over.
Gad, a prophet, warns David to leave and he does.
Saul finds out who gave David bread and Goliath's sword and kills him along 84 other priests.
Saul attacks the rest of Nob.
One son of the priest, Abiathar, who helped David escaped and told David what Saul did.
David says he will protect Abiathar.

1 Samuel 23
The city of Keilah is under attack by the Philistines.
David saves the city as the Lord told him to.
David and his men leave because the Lord told him that the people of Keilah will deliver them to Saul.
David hides in the wilderness.
Jonathan comes to meet David to encourage him in the Lord.
Jonathan says David is to be the next king of Israel and he will be there next to him.
Saul hears of David in the wilderness and pursues him.
David evades Saul, and Saul return because the Philistines are attacking.

1 Samuel 24
David has the chance to kill Saul but spares his life because he is the Lord's anointed.

1 Samuel 18-20

1 Samuel 18
Jonathan and David become very close friends.
Saul begins to resent David.
"Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands."
Saul does everything in his power to give David a bad reputation but nothing works because the Lord is with David.
Saul tries to get David to marry his daughter.
David declines, but is soon persuaded by Saul's servants.
David marries Michal.

1 Samuel 19
Jonathan warns David that Saul wants to kill him.
Jonathan tells David to hide and will find out his fathers plans.
Saul continues to attempt to kill David.
Michal helps David escape deceiving her father.
Saul tries many times to get David but nothing works.

1 Samuel 20
Jonathan and David devise a plan.
Jonathan will tell David of Saul's intention by shooting arrows a certain way.
Saul still wants to kill David, so Jonathan tells David to leave and he does.
