Ruth 1
There was a famine in the land.
Elimelech, his wife Naomi, and his sons Mahlon and Chilion went to live in Moab.
Elimelech died.
Mahlon and Chilion took wives, Orpah and Ruth.
Mahlon and Chillion both died.
Naomi tells her daughter-in-laws ti return to their fathers house.
Orpah returns but Ruth remains with Naomi.
"...For wherever you go, I will go...Your people shall be my people, and your God my God..."
Ruth 2
Ruth asks Naomi if she can go and glean on a field and agrees.
Boaz notices Ruth gleaning.
Boaz tells his reapers to drop purposefully more food for Ruth.
Also, Ruth is allowed to glean in unharvested sections without punishment.
Ruth asks Boaz why she has found favor in his eyes.
Boaz tells her how he knows what she has done for Naomi.
Ruth 3
Naomi tells Ruth to wait at Boaz's feet and do what he says.
Boaz says he is a close relative but their is a closer one.
If the closer relative does not wish to perform the duty of a close relative, then Boaz will.
Boaz sends Ruth back to Naomi with 6 ephahs of barley.
Ruth 4
The closest relative cannot redeem Ruth.
Boaz buys the land of Elimelech from Naomi and takes Ruth as his wife.
The geneology of Perez is as follows: Perez, Hezron, Ram, Amminadab, Nahshon, Salmon, Boaz, Odeb, Jesse, and David.
