Joshua 1-4

Joshua 1
God tells Joshua to lead the people because Moses is died.
The people of Israel are ordered to cross the Jordan by Joshua.

Joshua 2
Joshua sent two spies into the land.
The spies stay in a Rahab's house.
The king finds out and tells Rahab to bring the spies to him.
Rahab hides the spies and tells the king that they left already.
Rahab tells the spies how to safetly go home.
Rahab says how she knows their God is the one true God, in heaven and on earth and that He has given the Israelites this land.
Rahab asks the spies to spare her house when the destroy the city.
The spies say whoever is in the house with the scarlet cord in the window will be spared.
The spies report to Joshua that the Lord has truly delivered the land to them because they are truly afraid of them.

Joshua 3
The people cross over the Jordan.
The Levites and the priests will carry the Ark.
The people are to follow at a distance behind for they will lead the way.
When the soles of the feet of the priests carrying the Ark touch the waters of the Jordan, the waters will stop.
The waters are running at the highest of the season at this time.
The entire nation crossed the Jordan on dry ground while the priests who held the Ark stood firm.

Joshua 4
One man from every tribe is to pick up a rock from the Jordan.
Joshua placed them where they camped after crossing.
The stones are a reminder of how the Lord allowed the children of Israel to cross the Jordan on dry land.
