1 Samuel 9
Saul and a servant go to find the donkeys of his father Kish.
They are unable to find them so they go to see Samuel, a seer (the old word for a prophet), because they know he speaks to the Lord.
The Lord told Samuel one day that a man will come the next day and that is whom the Lord wants to be king over Israel.
Samuel tells Saul several things that are going to happen and to follow his instructions.
The things that Samuel said come true and are followed by Saul.
1 Samuel 10
Samuel anoints Saul as king.
Samuel calls the people to Mizpah and tells them that Saul from the tribe of Benjamin will be king.
Some did not like who was chosen.
1 Samuel 11
The Ammonites prepare to attack Jabesh Gilead.
Saul gathers forces and was victorious saving the city.
1 Samuel 12
Samuel gives a speech at Saul's coronation.
Samuel warns the people not to sin and worship idols, but follow the Lord who has delivered them so many times.
Samuel warns them again on what king does to his people, yet the people still demand a king.
