The Lord tells Saul to utterly destroy the Amalekites, for they attacked Israel while they were fleeing Egypt.
Saul spares the king and the prize sheep, oxen, and lambs.
The Lord spoke to Samuel what Saul did.
Samuel confronts Saul telling him he disobeyed the Lord; he did not utterly destroy the Amalekites.
Samuel tells Saul that will no longer be king.

The Lord tells Samuel that He has chosen another king for Israel; his name is David, the son of Jesse.
Samuel finds David and anoints him king.
Saul has a troubled spirit and finds David to play the harp for him.

Saul is battling the Philistines.
Goliath challenges Israel; he says send one man against him and who ever wins, the other nation will become their servants.
No one from Israel is stepping forward.
David is sent to bring his other brothers food from their father.
David hears about Goliath's challenge.
David tells Saul he will fight.
David goes to fight Goliath with a few stones and a slingshot.
David kills Goliath with a stone and takes Goliath's sword and chops his head off.
The Philistines flee and Israel pursues and attacks.
Saul inquires who's son David is.
