1 Samuel 13-14

1 Samuel 13
After Saul reigned for 2 years he choose 3,000 men from Israel.
Jonathan, Saul's son, had 1,000 of those men and attacked a Philistine garrison.
The Philistines prepared for battle and scared the men of Israel, which ran and hid.
Saul waited 7 days for Samuel who did not come.
Saul made a sacrfice to the Lord because the peopl ehad hidden out of fear.
Samuel arrives and tells Saul he made an unlawful sacrifice and his reign will not be forever in Israel like the Lord intended because of this.
Israel had not weapons because the Philistines allowed no blacksmiths while in control for fear of them making weapons.

1 Samuel 14
Jonathan has a victory over the Philistines.
Saul placed the people under an oath of not being able to eat any food until he has taken vengence on his enemies, lest he be cursed.
Jonathan was away while Saul make this announcement and so eats some honey he found in the woods.
The people were able to reason with Saul as to not kill Jonathan for disobeying.
Saul established sovereignty over Israel attacking and defeating Moab, Ammon, Edom, Zohab, the Philistines, and the Amalekites.
Saul had three sons, Jonathan, Jishui, and Malchishua, two daughters, Merab, and Michal, and Ahinoam was his wife.
Abner was Saul's army commander.
Saul battled with the Philistines all his days and took all valiant men of Israel for himself.
