James 1
“The testing of your faith produces patience.”
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach.”
Riches will fade away.
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation.”
God does not tempt man with sin.
Sin leads to death.
“Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”
We are to be doer of the word, and not hearers only.
James 2
Watch out for favoritism.
If a rich man enters your church and so does a poor man in filthy clothes.
Treat them equally sharing Jesus with them.
God has chosen the poor of the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom.
“Mercy triumphs over judgment.”
"Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
James 3
“But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.”
James 4
Pride leads to trouble.
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.”
Do not judge your brother.
Do not boast about tomorrow; only the Lord knows tomorrow.
James 5
Be patient.
If you are suffering pray.
If you are cheerful, sing.
If you are sick, have the church elders pray over you and anoint you with oil.
“The effective, fervent prayer a righteous man avails much.”
Bring back the one who wanders.
