1 Timothy 1
Paul instructed Timothy to remain in Ephesus to thwart unsound doctrine being taught.
Paul thanks the Lord for His grace.
Paul challenges Timothy to stay strong.
1 Timothy 2
Paul asks for prayer for all men.
Paul is a preacher of the Man who gave Himself as ransom.
Paul speaks of men and women in church.
Men are to lift up their hands.
Women are to dress modestly.
Women should learn in silence.
Women cannot teach or have authority over a man.
1 Timothy 3
Paul speaks of qualifications of an overseer or bishop; blameless, one woman man, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous, and have a good testimony.
Paul gives qualifications of deacons.
Paul plans on visiting soon, but if he is held up, Timothy knows how to conduct himself.
“God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory."
1 Timothy 4
Paul says how the Spirit has said that in latter times, some will depart of the faith because of false teachings.
“For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things.”
1 Timothy 5
Treat church members with honor and respect and love.
Paul speaks about how to treat widows.
Honor the elders, who are worthy of double honor.
1 Timothy 6
Honor masters.
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil…”
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life, to which you were also called…”
Paul instructs the rich to be generous is giving, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come.
Paul charges Timothy with guarding the faith.
