Numbers 1
The Lord tells Moses to take a census of the people of Israel.
Men are appointed as heads of the tribes.
Those who were counted were twenty years old and above, able to go to war.
Reuben had 46,500.
Simeon had 59,300.
Gad had 45,650.
Judah had 74,600.
Issachar had 54,400.
Zebulun had 57,400.
Joseph had 40,500.
Manasseh had 32,200.
Benjamin had 35,400.
Dan had 62,700.
Asher 41,500.
Naphtali had 53,400.
All those who were numbered 603,550.
The Lord told Moses the Levites were not to be counted.
The Levites are appointed over the Tabernacle of Testimony.
The Levites are to live around the Tabernacle.
Numbers 2
There are places where each tribe is to camp.
The east side consisted of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.
The south side consisted of Reuben, Simeon, and Gad.
The west side consisted of Joseph, Manasseh, and Benjamin.
The north side consisted of Dan, Asher, and Naphtali.
The Levites were not counted as the Lord commanded and are in the middle of the camp.
