Jeremiah 42-45

Jeremiah 42
The Lord forbids the remnant of Judah to return to Egypt, yet the people still want to go.

Jeremiah 43
The people say that the Lord did not tell Jeremiah not to go to Egypt.
The people take Jeremiah and go to Egypt.
The Lord says that the Chaldeans will come to Egypt and conquer the Egyptians and the remnant of Judah that is there.

Jeremiah 44
The Lord will punish those who have left Judah and Jerusalem.
Almost all will die in Egypt either by famine or the sword.
Few will escape and return to Judah.
The people are being punished for disobeying the Lord in coming to Egypt and for the abominations they committed in Jerusalem and Judah, burning incense to other gods.

Jeremiah 45
Baruch is assured of his protection by the Lord.
